Armor of God - Part 1​

Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand -- Ephesians 6:13 NIV

As our world has battled COVID-19, we have heard much about PPEs, personal protective equipment, such as masks and gloves. But, as Christians, we are fighting more than germs. Our conflict is often not as much a war with outside forces, but one from within. Each day, we need to be prepared for battle.

On the day we accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and invited His Holy Spirit to dwell within us, He did not come empty-handed. He presented us with a set of body armor for protection. But, in order to reap the benefits, we are required to put on the full armor of God and to keep it on.

Ephesians 6:14-17 (NIV) lists six pieces of equipment needed for a victorious life: "a belt of truth", "a breastplate of righteousness", "footwear of readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, a shield of faith", "a helmet of salvation", and "a sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God". We need to not only know how to wear and use this armor, but to determine that each piece of this personal protective equipment is secure and available for battle in all hours of the day and the night.
