Believing Without Seeing​

For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. -–John 3:16 NIV

God created us to increase His Heavenly family with those who would truly love Him. Fundamental questions about Christianity have often been asked: “Why doesn’t God just show Himself to us?” Why must we believe without seeing Him in order to go to Heaven? The truth is that He has already given us those opportunities.

We learn in Genesis chapters two and three that our Lord had a personal relationship with the first people whom He had created, Adam and Eve. And, He spoke with them. But they betrayed God and were consequently separated from Him. They could no longer physically hear His voice.

Yet, God did not stop there. He came to us again in the form of a man, Jesus Christ. How did we respond? We crucified Him. Still, our Lord did not give up on us. He then sent His Holy Spirit to guide us to the realization that whoever believes in Him would have eternal life.

Since the beginning of time, our Lord has shown Himself to us. He continues to speak to us and to reveal Himself to us through His Word, the Bible, prayer, other believers, and all of creation. It is up to each of us to accept Him and join His family.  Jesus assures us in John 20:29 (NIV), "Happy are those who have never seen Me and yet believe!”
